This charity has been in operation since 1983 and is an international relief operation working in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Africa through local churches. The charity helps all regardless of their faith beliefs. For the past 10 years our parish has been supporting this worthwhile charity and showing gods love for others in a very practical way. Each year we encourage people to pack a physical box with items for a child in need due to natural disasters, war, etc to open at Christmas time, like toys, jumpers, colouring items, etc. It has been hugely successful with schools, Scouts and Guiding groups joining in. We have collected over 300 boxes on previous years for the children.
Last year with the advent of Covid we were unable to do this although I know some people still paid for a box online and created a virtual one. This year we hope to be able to be able to return to our usual collection of boxes at St Andrew’s Church. The purchasing and packing of a virtual box will still be an option if this is easier for you. Alternatively, you could donate money for this cause which we will pass on to them to allow the purchase of more items, carriage out to the areas most in need, etc.

- Giving a cheque to St Andrew’s parish payable to ‘Hornchurch PCC’ clearly mark on the reverse as ‘Charity of the Month Operation Christmas Child’, which we will then collect together and send as donations at the end of the month.
