Coins for Kenya
This April will mark 15 years since we first adopted the village of Myanga in Kenya as our overseas charity and since 2004 we have changed the lives of so many poor people.
Along with many other projects over the years, we have helped make the lives of children attending the local school and children living in the local disabled school so much better for them, we provided access to water for the whole village by having a new well dug and another repaired (otherwise it’s a trip to a dirty river). We have built new mud huts for homeless people and enabled a promising young girl to become a teacher and much more. The personal donations, the spare change and money boxes passed on to me and the money raised through our annual Quiz Nights, Cake Sales and Carol Singing all goes straight into the ‘Poor Clares Myanga’ bank account and every penny goes to help some of the poorest people on the planet.
At the moment we are concentrating on feeding around 20 old people in the village who have no family left to look after them (usually it’s because their children have died of AIDS), so the nuns provide them with a daily meal and pay for medical attention and any medicine needed.
So please accept my heartfelt thanks for all your donations and your support over the years and I pray that you will continue to be generous, so we can help those most in need. God bless you.
